ParticipantHi,
Haven’t been on this forum for a while – good thing, no? Bought a Maytag SBS Fridge freezer nearly three years ago after advice from here – good decision. Now I need to replace my ancient chest freezer, bought in 1984, as the ice build up is raising the lid every couple of weeks. We freeze a lot of garden produce and I have become sick of burrowing down to the depths in gloves to find that fish (not from the garden) I’m sure I only froze a few weeks ago -2004 on the label – surely not!
So I think I’d like an upright freezer with drawers.Any recommendations?
Thankyou

Hi Angie
A little more detail would be good please.
Is the freezer in the garage?
What sort of capacity is the existing appliance? Overall size or make and model would help 😉
What budget are you thinking of?

Hi Don, thanks for your reply.
The freezer is in a utility room, along with the fridge-freezer and the boiler, so ambient temp not cold.
It is a Polar Queen, no idea the size but with two baskets and about a foot of depth below, and a narrow side section about 8″wide x 16″long x 16″deep.
I think I need something about 180-200lts and my budget will be around £300.
What are Frigidaire like? I’ve seen one about the right size in a local store, where I’d prefer to buy anyway.
Cheers

Hi
Frigidaire products appear to be good value on the surface but poor value when it comes to reliability and longevity of life, personally I would not have one.
You would do much better to look at something like a Zanussi ZFU628WO1 or the Hotpoint RZS150P.
Just bear in mind that you get about 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} less into an upright freezer than a chest one of the same capacity. However it’s easier to see what you have stored and the product takes up less space.
HTH 🙂
