    Hi all

    I’ve had my Roomba for about 5 years and it is streets ahead of the old green one – mainly due to being ‘tassle aware’ and not stripping the motor on a cat toy.

    It has started playing up and will only back itself painfully in small circles. I’m guessing this might be something to do with the cliff sensor or the bumper. I have taken it apart and cleaned it with a small paintbrush but it is still going backwards. I have read that the cliff sensors might need cleaning with compressed air, but I’m not sure where these are located on the machine, or where I can get a supply of compressed air from – would a car tyre foot pump be suitable, or a bicycle pump?

    Can anyone point me at the sensors please?

    Hi Andrea,

    Compressed air cans used to clean computer keyboards from Staples or any other office supply company may well be your friend here. 😉

    Thanks for all the advice – the roomba, after a new battery, and cleaning cliff sensors is now back to its old self.

    The compressed air didn’t really get in enough to blow the dust out as there was so much, so I had to dismantle the machine and clean with cotton buds. A bit of a design flaw perhaps as there’s no seal to stop the dust collecting again.

    Am very happy though, and pleased yet again with how great and helpful this forum is. A big thank you 😀
