KeymasterAny idea what fault code “F8” is referring to. The local domestic aplliance man has been round and reset the machine (how I don’t know, I was not there at the time) and it was ok for two washes.
Thanks in anticipation.

Ray,
I think you may be referring to an Indesit W16SUK ? Being the silver version of the W16UK.
The error usually means trouble with the Heater relay on the circuit board and/or the heater as well 🙁
Could well be an expensive fix required I’m afraid 🙁

Thanks for the help. Did mean “S”, can’t read my own handwriting. Nuisance as machine is just out of warranty and has only been in use for three months. Hopeful of someone local to give an estimate to repair. PO11 area.

As a rough guide Ray and both the pcb and the eeprom need replacing (worst case scenario) you will be looking at around £130 – £150 all in.

Dave,
Thanks for the rough estimate. The wife has just fished out the machines paperwork and it appears there is a 4 year parts warranty valid only if you use merloni (Hotpoint) service engineers.
Difficult one to call when you consider the call out fee (£90.00 ) + labour quote this morning. It is a lot if the fault is minor. But, going by Martins comment of it possibly being “expensive” may be I should bite the bullet and go with it. I would rather not.
Do we have a man in the PO11 9HZ area who could look at the machine.

Sorry Ray, UKW has no listing for an engineer in the PO postcode district.
Perhaps one of the work providers (it’s a term we in the trade use for companies with a national independant network) that view these forums would like to help ?
Dave.

Dave,
I have checked all connections to the control board and the heater element and all appear fine as is the heater element itself. Put it back together and she worked fine for 3 washes and then failed again with the F08 error.
Took it on myself to put a meter in circuit to check the operation of the heater relay and 4 out of the five times I started the wash cycle it was ok. The one time it failed and gave the F08 there was no voltage to the heater. So could be the relay or possibly the thermostat control.I wanted to check both but “how do you get the circuit board out of the plastic cover”? It looks simple but was being a pain last night so I put it all back together.
It has done four “proper washes” since then and has been fine (the machine has been left switched on) but I have no confidence it it being permanently resolved.
I have browsed the net and foun QER who can test and repair control boards. Are they reliable? Cause it would be lot less than a new one.
Board Ref is 215007042.02
Thanks

As far as I know they can be relied on yes 🙂 The relay on those boards are natoriously unreliable also 😉
You will probably have to submit both the main module AND the display module for repair/inspection ❓

Yep, that’s your best bet. Send it to QER (generally very reliable) they will either test and confirm it’s OK or repair and charge accordingly.
Either way, cheaper than a new PCB from Merloni.

Dave, Martin,
Thanks for your help.
As an electronics engineer…… If I could get the cover off, identify the part no of the relay and it’s not a muti-track board, I have the skills and the equipment to replace myself… but perhaps I’ll let QER do it.
