Participantbeen called by two different customers about this machine
both have a low buzzing noise coming from them
and both are no go
they are both over a year and under 13 months
both have phoned tesco about the fault and both were told
they would both have there money returned to themnow both are out of guarantee and yet without going to look at the appliances tesco have refunded them the purchase price
is there a known fault
i am interested as both have had the money put in there accounts
and have offered us the old machines as tesco don`t want them backOctober 10, 2011 at 1:51 pm #360983Martin

Then pick up on their offer, lift the lid and see that in both cases the belt has snapped or drum seized I shouldn’t wonder. 😐

sorry didn`t explain that very well
both machines won`t come on when they press the on/off button
but if they leave it the lights come on then go offOctober 10, 2011 at 2:12 pm #360985Martin

worrying that tesco don`t even want to see the machine before giving the money back and telling the customers to dispose of the machine themselves

Tesco only profit buy selling in volume. I would hazard a guess they make less than 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} profit per unit, if that. Writing off (say) one machine per 1000 sold doesn’t compromise their projected sales target hence the ease with which they deal with come-backs.
Also the cost to them regarding disposal of refunded stock is phenomenal so avoiding that responsibility and piling it onto their customers instead makes good financial sense to them.

leaves them open to the naughty people among us who will phone tesco with a 13 month old with no fault on it but tell tesco there is one and get there money back and keep a working machine

Perhaps you’ve spotted a loophole in their policy? If that theory leaks out into the public domain who knows what may transpire?
But, hold up, I can’t see that the typical Tesco on-line customer that is in the market for buying an Indesit washer for god sake would have the necessary savvy. 😈

you have a point
but most people who are buying an indeshit for under £200
would do it if they heard about it
most of the ones i see are in the not so nice council flat/house part of town
most of them don`t work and are looking for something for nothingOctober 10, 2011 at 3:22 pm #360991Martin

That reminds me of a story I read a short while back about a tower block in Basingstoke. Residents were complaining of the ‘orrible stink coming from the rubbish shute. Veolia eventually sussed out the problem some weeks later after they realised no rubbish was getting into their wheelie bins at the bottom of the shute.
You guess it already…yes, some twat threw an Indesit washer down the shute and it got well stuck in there!! A Tesco reject maybe???? 8)

petal, just taken out a 13 mth old, you got it – tesco direct – iwb5113 with a coin shaped hole in the tub just behind the motor mount. too risky to plug up down there. cust prepared for the worst but wants a fix if viable so if you want to sell me the tub 😛 (assuming it has no chocolate teapot style faults)
