ParticipantFitted doorseal on above. Cust now complains that when it gets to L (final spin) the machine spins then goes on to fill again. Knob indicator looks as if it is brand new as if someone has replaced it. How do i remove the knob from the timer shaft. Does it just pull off?

The end cap of the knob is just “snapped on”, a thin screwdriver or penknife will spring it off if applied to the “join”. The inner knob is fixed to the timer shaft with a 7mm nut, use a 7mm nut spinner to remove it, then withdraw the knob making sure you do not lose the spring behind it.

Bleedin’ ‘eck that’s a golden oldie 😯
To remove the timer knob, unclip the very front of the knob assy (the cap) behing that there’s a 7mm nut which will allow the rest to come off, apart from the cam which invloves removing the timer itself.
I would check that it’s draining though and/or the pressure switch, these machines from memory will start a new programme and go past the stop position if the pressure switch has not released (clicked off) below level one.

Thanks Shane. Got a feeling wrong knob has been fitted by cust or is upside down/slipped broken etc.

And they say Nostalgia is not what it used to be.
2 Versions on the 919 timer knob arrangement.
Early one with NO spring behind.
1 pop off the cap. 2 remove 7mm nut & extract the knob outer. 3 look at the disk & how it relates to the cut-outs on the inner cam, there is a small & large slot and this should correspond to the outer disc. 4 ensure the little collar/spacer is still on the shaft, if not fit a small nut that can slide over the unthreaded part of the shaft. 5 turn the disc so the smaller segment of the timer shaft is at the top. 6 refit the outer knob by ensuring the smaller slot to accommodate the pop on/off cap is at 12 o-clock. 7 run the 7mm nut back on, pop on the cap & hey presto. Ensure knob pops in & out.
If the later type with the spring, there will be no plastic collar inside, and the final position of the outer knob isn’t critical.
Suspect the fault is due to the air pressure chamber underneath. 1st symptom as a rule though would be over-filling and no spin at times.
If so, take it off but ensure no water enters the motor. Give it a clean in a sink of hot soapy water by shaking a couple of nuts inside. Ensure the tube is clear, refit making sure all hose connections are tight.
When testing, don’t try & short-cut the spin programme, let it run into spin naturally from the distribution phase. Or you will smell burning.
Good machine that one.
