I’ve had this built in appliance for 3 years now.

The drum frequently smells badly, so yesterday I decided to do a maintenance wash at 90 degrees using biological powder with the drum empty, as per the manual.

I’m not sure how long it actually washed for, but I heard the machine ‘click’ and pause itself, and it would not allow me to restart it by pressing the pause button again. There were no error codes displayed.

I also noticed that the glass, casing and control panel were extremely hot, so I switched off the machine using the dial, then I unplugged it and left it overnight.

I tried the machine again this morning, it switched on okay and using the control panel, I drained the water out.

Is this a sign that the thermostat has gone? I’ve done a maintenance wash many times before (because of the excessive stinkage) and it’s always completed the cycle without a problem; and are they designed to cut out if they overheat? the manual makes no mention of this.

    Many thanks.
