ParticipantHi. I have the Siemens dishwasher above that has stopped completing the cycle (leaves water in the bottom and displays 1 in the count down display) and also seems now to have stopped heating. This is not the first time it’s happened and we had an engineer out under warranty (now expired) last time. I think he replaced the control board and possibly the heater too.
Reading the info I suspected the ‘overheated relay’ issue but it seems that I have an updated board with 10A relays and no scorching to be seen. For relevance of red stars read on…
However, looking on the back there are two pins that have no solder, one of which seems to sit below the bottom corner of a relay. Is this right? Seems odd even though it doesn’t seem to be on a trace (is that the right terminology?).
I’m no electronics guru (or even hobbyist 😆 ) but it doesn’t seem right to me. Any help would be welcomed.

OK, looking at the last photo, the pins illustrated are just support pins and not connected electrically to the circuit. However the pin in the centre of those two ‘stars’ does look like a dry joint to me and could benefit from re-soldering. Refit the circuit board then run it again just in case that dry joint has any bearing on the fault.
Otherwise I see no visible signs of failings with the circuit board and suspect therefore the fault is that the heating element needs replacing. Checking the heater terminals therefore with a multi-meter will likely confirm my suspicions.

Many thanks for the quick response. I think it’s probably lighting / shadows as all of the soldered pins look very similar in daylight with no cracks, visible joins etc.
Will try and check the element but if it is then unfortunately I think it will be a new machine – I’m frustrated by this one going wrong every 18 months and it looks like £115 for the element. That’s 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of a new, cheaper end machine that still gets good reviews. I hate throwing stuff away but I can’t ignore the costs either.
Many thanks for your help – a great service.

I take your point but in many cases replacing the heater unit is a viable option (I do loads) even if you get a local independent in (like me) to fix it. Depends of course on a number of factors first though. Principally the amount of daily use it gets, if in a hard water area you haven’t bothered using salt (that really bu&&ers them up) and the state of other components within, especially the main motor (if that shows signs of leakage around the drive shaft).
9 out of 10 times fitting a heater is worth it TBH.
HTH? 😀

ParticipantOur Siemens SE26 T550 Gb/25 doesn’t complete the cycle and displays ‘1’. Heat is fine. I replaced the two relays on the control board but it had no effect. I’m a bit disappointed!! The board looked fine and the joints looked good. No sign of overheating.
