Customer says she came home to find one of the RCD’s out. Switched back on and found that the dishwasher would not work although it was not on at the time.
Can’t drag it right out until the floor is lifted so just whipped the door off.
I get a circuit from the plug to both the live and neutral sides of the On/Off switch. The switch (165886) appears to be a three pole switch and looking down from the top the two lower sets of tags ( live & neutral ) are making and breaking correctly but the top set of connections fed by two green wires is permanently O/C.
I assume this would be the reason the machine appears to be totally dead, have ordered a new switch but if my assumptions are correct, is it likely to be just a switch failure or are other components known to ‘blow’ this switch?
TIA.
Jim.

It’s more symptomatic of the module going o/c TBH Jim. Whilst I’ve never fitted one on this model similar ones that I have fitted the transformer circuit on the module fails. Especially so if the user doesn’t switch the m/c of after the cycle has finished.
The on/off switch is common to a number of models yet I’ve never replaced one, ever.

One set of contacts of the On/Off switch is definitely O/C whether the button is in or out, a visual reveals the very slightest sign of discolouration/arcing on one of the two top contacts.

Hopefully, fingers crossed, a new on/off s/w will sort it then. Bl**dy sight cheaper than a module that’s for sure. All the best! 😀

On some Bosch/Neff/Siemens dishwashers , one set of contacts on the on/off switch are just a ‘brush’ set . I.e – they just touch momentarily when the switch is depressed .
I’d be more inclined to think this will be a duff board…….but you may need to examine the IC’s on it to make sure there wasn’t another component failure that caused it.

Thanks for that, I am a little suspicious as I don’t think the switch would have taken out the RCD, still will find out when I get to drag it out.

If the switch rings out the same as posted it won’t be the switch at fault. Its just how those switches are. Im sure theres been a discussion before about the 3 pole switches?

Sorry, I do apologise for not updating this thread, 😳 it turned out that Martin & Paul where correct, the main PCB was goosed, customer did not want to spend so it was deemed BER. 🙁

Some of these modern Bosch D/W have a problem with the PCB .. The boards overheat causing a fire on the board… seems like one of the relays is at fault.. it destroys the board and the interior of the console .. I beleive there is a recall on certain serail numbers and hense a mod is available.

This model was not covered by the recall ( I did check ), reading all of the unhappy customers posts on this forum doesn’t make good reading either. :rolls:
