KeymasterOK I screwed up – I seem to have allowed a whole bucket load or so of water to run into the back of my washing machine while it was running, and now (of course) it does nothing. There’s a good chance the machine is ruined, but I guess there’s also a good chance that there’s an internal breaker which tripped before anything else got damaged.
So: where’s the breaker? Easy to get to?Thanks for any help to recover from my foolishness……..

Er, no, actually. In the bottom, rear right corner of your machine (from the front aspect) is a large digital control board, in an open sided plastic box. This does it all, and if you’ve drowned it, I wouldn’t rate its chances of survival as high, especially if you’ve powered up the machine! There is no circuit protection and no reset I’m afraid.
Options are to dry everything thoroughly (especially the board!) and keep your fingers crossed, but being honest, prepare to be disappointed.
The Indesit “W” series of machines are not the world’s best quality appliances, but to be fair, most washers these day lack surface fuses and other circuit protection – even Bosch.
If this produces no positive result, Dave_Conway will be able to advise on prices – see if you can find the full model number and serial number (label on the back of the machine); it may not be as bad as you think.
Whatever you do, pull the plug first!

Thanks for the (not good news) info.
Plug is pulled, central heating turned up, hopefully drying through the night……

OK – now I am confused!
Just got home from work and popped the top off, and there is no sign of any water inside. I had assumed there would be since (a) I accidentally left the outlet hose on top of the cabinet, and (b) the machine stopped half way through a load. There was water on the floor, but I didn’t think it was anywhere deep enough to have come up inside the cabinet, and looking at the cabinet I can’t see any other way the water would have got in there anyway.
My trusty old multimeter tells me there is 240VAC on the outlet of the RFI device, but pressing the “on” button results in nothing. Not a murmur, not a flicker. Not sure where to go from here. Is there anything else I should check before calling in a repairer?
For reference the numbers on the back make the model a “WD 12 UK”, Type Number “LVA 2000C”, barcode “WD 12 UK 080 250570130 32 539 312118072”.
Thanks
Pete

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the curve ball 😕 ! If it had actually already died in the wash cycle, I’d check the on/off switch for a start (plastic – melts) and then have a look at the digiboard itself – blown tracks and the like.Luck,
