I thought I had seen it all. :rolls:

Just returned from attending a call to a Lux built in washer dryer.

Customer has already had someone out to this machine, he Googled for washer repairs Oldham and when the first couple of people he rang didn’t bother to get in touch he rang a Stockport based company. It doesn’t look as though this company is on our ‘Find an Engineer’ list but they are virtually at the top of the page if you Google for washer repairs Stockport.

They advertise a £59.50 call out fee, Est 1995, 12 months warranty etc.

Fault was that when set to a 2 hour wash programme the display stopped at 1 hour then reverted back to 2 hours.

A young lad called last week, didn’t take the machine out, didn’t run any diagnostics, didn’t even mention checking the pump filter. He faffed around for a while and then borrowed some bleach from the customer, tipped it down the soap drawer and then presented them with a bill for £60.00 :eeek:

Needless to say the fault was exactly the same the next time it was used.

Numerous phone calls have met with no response most of the time but the one time this customer has managed to speak to this company they said that they would have to come back with a PCB tester. ❓

This is a fairly new development in what was an old mill and all of the houses and flats have these machines in. The installation of them all is appalling, the last one I did needed the skirting boards prising off with a crowbar before the laminated floor could be lifted so that the machine would come out. This one needed the bottom six inches of two door frames sawing off before the plinth could be removed, thankfully I was then able to yank it out over the laminated floor.

I ran the diagnostics before I dragged it out and got Ed4.
I went right for the dryer heater which was down to earth.

Its things like this that really get me annoyed, however this customer is a big lad and is planning to get satisfaction.

£68 fixed fee repair, all parts and labour included, must fall into that “too good to be true” category, surely? Subsequent repairs within 3 months are also FOC! I wonder how many machines they BER?

Stockport based company? £59.50 call out? £68 fixed rate inclusive parts & 3 months guarantee? Neat bleach in dispenser drawer? Crowbar to remove kitchen plinths? I’m intrigued as to who they are?

Life’s never dull up in the North-west for sure….!

    Re: Nice little earner??

The crowbar was used by the customer themselves on a previous visit to another property on this development about 12 months ago, strangely enough exactly the same fault.

I sat down enjoying my tea & biscuits whilst watching the punter prise off the skirting boards either side of the machine, this allowed the plinth to be removed, after the plinth was removed the laminated floor had to come up.

This repair company need an ‘ARC’ 😉 light shining on their activities never even ran the diagnostics, and made no attempt to get the machine out.
This one only needed a few inches sawing off two door frames to get the plinth out, it then lifted over the laminated floor.

New dryer heater fitted this morning. 8)

    Re: Nice little earner??

i run by business in manchester but sometimes cover stockport i think iv seen this advert before, it just plain gets met annoyed when this happens just breeds mistrust from public also, going off topic a bit iv started charging a fixed rate fee with ok results around £80 mark, why? some jobs take 20-30 mins so take 1 and half hours, customers seem happy to pay 80quid for small job as they know whats going to be charged before arrival. no callout charge no ber charge, some of my patch is beko, indesit, cheap and cheerful machines and some built in, not sure if im doing the right thing but its working in a diffult market at the moment as work seem to drop off about 9 months back( i even had the phones checked by bt!) and after changing my rates im back out on road now working.

    Gorton Rd, Reddish. 😉

Currently coming top on Google for ‘washer repairs stockport’. :rolls:

There was a post on their Facebook page two days ago from a woman complaining that they didn’t even bother to ring her back. That seems to have been deleted.

    Jim.
