    hi

as the front line says – bosch dishwasher faultless for six years.

Used today and it stuck in rinse mode for a couple of hours. Turning off and on again makes no difference – stays in rinse!

I have taken off the front door outer panel. Found a couple of marginally loose connectors – pushed into place and it still stuck on rinse!

I Can not remove the top plastic outer cover that protects switches and circuit boards.

I am now driving blind as this is my first dishwasher fault finding experience.

Any advice on what to do now?

    Many thanks

    Dave,

First of all try ‘resetting’ the machine (with the machine switched on and running, press the 2nd and 4th buttons simulataniously for 2 seconds then release) That should set the pump to drain for 60 seconds then it will switch off 😉

Now try it again, see what happens 🙄

    Hi Martin

Thanks for the info. A prompt response – thanks again.

The machine did as you said.

I reset and ity pumped, then I turned off after 2 min. At start up the rinse cycle did not run – yehay!

I have now set it to run a ‘quick’ to see what happens.

    I’ll let you know

    Cheers

    hi Martin

My Bosche ran it’s quick cycle OK.

Is this prob a sign of impending doom?

Many thanks – if you are near Lincoln I will give you a free firework.

    Cheers

Re: bosch dishwasher SGS5312 – stuck on rinse mode

    Hi Martin

You did say come back! The Bosch only ends the rinse cycle in quick wash. All other cycles finds it rinsing for over an hour. Reset puts it right but dry is never reached.

    What are my options now?

    Cheers

    Dave,
All programmes on these appliances EXCEPT quickwash heat to a predetermined temperature before allowing the programme to proceed. The quickwash programme runs against time as opposed to temperature, so it suggests a heater problem of some sort. One of the most regular problems with these is burnt out joints on the PCB. Others may be heater failure, safety stat failed, underfilling not allowing heater to activate…….

So, a few possibilities then – time for a local engineer? Check the Directory on the left for a UKW engineer, or pop your postcode up in here and someone will pick up on it.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.

Re: bosch dishwasher SGS5312 – stuck on rinse mode

    Hi,

Just did a search and found this.

We have the same model of dishwasher and it’s just started doing a similar thing. The only thing is that even the quick wash doesn’t finish.

A couple of days ago it stuck on rinse for a couple of hours. It was reset but since then any trial programs just stay on wash. According to the manual, quick wash should take 30 minutes but after that time it was still on wash.

I have an extended warranty with John Lewis and the engineer is coming out in a week . I’ll post the outcome of the visit.

It does seem that it’s not heating the water though so hopefully it’s a simple fix.

    Dave,
I have exactly the same problem! Look forward to your engineers findings being posted. Many Thanks,

Re: bosch dishwasher SGS5312 – stuck on rinse mode

    Ladies & Gentlemen!

For all those that have an interest in this topic (Google may have got you here in the first place 😉 ) It is likely whenever anyone experiences this type of problem (i. e washing/rinsing for 2 hours or more) that it is a HEATING, HEATER, or as is the most likely, a CONTROL MODULE fault 🙁

It is therefore NOT a ‘DIY fix’ but you will need to obtain expert help. If your problem falls into this area simply go into our “Directories” listing and check to see if you have a (UKW recommended service engineer) listed that could advise you directly and indeed fix the problem for a modest cost 🙂

Re: bosch dishwasher SGS5312 – stuck on rinse mode

    Martin and all,

First, thanks for narrowing down my fault finding and having had the machine unserviceable since Christmas I resigned myself to getting a new machine, as I was convinced it was the module and quotes of £40 call out and £110 part are too close to the cost of a new machine.

But I fixed it…..and if I can do it; I would think that its not too difficult. Machine has just run full cycle at right temperature with no stuck on rinse within time …. sorted.

Problem – dry solder joint inside the control module. Solution, get a soldering iron and tiny piece of solder and redo joint. It really is that simple. £110 for the part – not any more. BTW as of 24 Feb control module for 5312 on ebay for £12.50 in case you just want to swap out.

Remember when working on any electrics, the machine MUST be unplugged. Also, if you’re going near power supplies give it some time after unplugging just in case one of the power capacitors still has charge in it.

Okay getting the control module out involved undoing a few more screws, popping out the plastic retaining clips, and undoing the electrical connectors (write down where each came from just in case you forget when you come back to it in a week). Open up the control module by unhooking the plastic clips and open up like a book. The dry joint I noticed was on the larger circuit board and was one of the pins from a 12V semiconductor power regulator (one of 3 small black box things with Spule on). Get the end of the soldering iron on the dry joint on the back and apply more solder – sorted.

    Hi
This is a known fault. To clarify, if you remove the module unit completly
(power off of course and unplugged) the casin will split in two.
Remove relay board from casing and remake burnt pin connection on heater relay; job done

Thanks for this post this was exactly what was wrong with our dishwasher, it took less than and hour to fix.

Re: bosch dishwasher SGS5312 – stuck on rinse mode

Just like to add my thanks for the above info which is still relevant. My machine is an shu5312gb which we’ve had for ages, 7/8ish years.

The led display was always intermittent as well as the machine continuing to run all the time except on the quick wash. There was a dry/burnt joint on the main board and dry joints where the led modules plugged in.

One of these modules had been inserted incorrectly and one row of the pins were bent over instead of being inserted in the holes. So the display was always a bar or two short on the display unless I pressed on the plastic facia around the display.

Now it seems fine. It was interesting to see there are switches on the board that are not available to the user once the plastic facia is in place, I assume for programs available for different models. Though I can’t think what other option could be offered. I’ll leave all that well alone though and be happy with having it back working for a couple of hours work.

Re: bosch dishwasher SGS5312 – stuck on rinse mode

    I might have a solution.
Same problem (stuck on rinse) on Neff S4457 built-in dishwasher. At first, quite intermittent, then becoming the norm after a few months. Quality of wash deteriorated over those months, too.
Repair company advised it was the flow meter (impeller jug) but it wasn’t.
There was a blockage in the water labyrinth. The labyrinth is an elaborate collection of water galleries in a fairly flat translucent structure under the left hand panel. Many water connections at the bottom. In this model, there is a vent to the atmosphere at the top. The vent is connected via a complex, tortuous route of small channels to the water galleries. This route was filled with goop which caused a virtual air seal. I assume the blockage had been getting worse over many months. Clearly not a good thing. I removed the labyrinth but it was impossible to access the blockage to dislodge the goop. I tried blowing it out, to no avail. I used a solution of caustic soda (which is hazardous so take care) and a lot of agitation to dissolve the goop and clean the channels.
This is not a solution I have seen offered elsewhere and I suppose it will only apply occasionally. Good luck!
