Brandt Apollo CO38AWMU back inside fridge panel has expanded inwards to the inside of the fridge. Any idea what may have caused this and is it a terminal condition for the appliance? If it is repairable, how do we ‘push’ the panel back? Initially, the freezer died, then the green power LED went out and then the panel expanded. Thank you, Poppyetta

as a precaution please turn off your appliance and leave the doors open untill you seek an engineer to have a look at your appliance.

Thank you Bob. It’s been unplugged for about a week now. We’re just trying to find out whether it is repairable or whether we need to buy a new one.

Haven’t been successful in finding out what has caused the back panel to ‘blow’ and because we need a new appliance quickly, we have just bought a Beko CF6004AP, however, if anyone does read this and knows what would cause the back panel to expand, I would love to know.

the most likely suspect is a refrigerant leak from the fridge evaporator pipe located behind the back panel.
