ParticipantThis one tickled me – had an old dear on tonight complaining that her AEG Competence oven wasn’t working properly. Rang up Serviceforce for some advice before deciding what to do and was told that it was “probably an NTC fault”.
She rang me wanting to know if I could solve her “Not Thoroughly Cooking” problem….
It’s enough to drive a man to drink – pass me another one, quick!

Saw one similar at Whirlpools training centre in Paddock Wood. After induction training a test paper was passed round and one of the questions was “What is a NTC”
One guy who had totaly forgotten marked the answer as “Nice Tiny Component”
He works for Comet now.!!

AEG, pre Electrolux used to always term a timer as a “PGS”…..for some reason, We think ProGramme Selector but maybe a more German origin was to blame.
…and Hotpoint had their PMC which was a combined Thyristor and Diode in one package that would occasionally imitate a handgrenade.October 23, 2004 at 1:10 am #118590kwatt
KeymasterI’ll let you guess what Zanussi’s TF was reffered to, the official meaning was Technically Faulty. 😉

Long ago when I worked for the original Servis and in pre computer days we were passed work slips from the telephonists with the letters R.F.S at the top.
One of our new engineers panicked and phoned me up because he had received 20 “RIGHT F…..G SCREAMERS” and coudn,t fit them all in that day.
I laughlingly informed him that the initials stood for: “REQUEST FOR SERVICE”.

Before Whirlpool introduced the Astro system when we were service “partners”, they would preebook the calls and quite often they would have avsput on the job sheet.
For months not wanting to seem stupid I didn’t bother asking what it was- avoid school pick up times-obvious when you know 😉
