prise off or cut the retaining clips (you get new ones with the heater), bend the tabs of the drip cover so that will pull off, then gently work the rubber out from the tub with the aid of a slotted screwdriver. Make a note of how much heater is in the tub before removing it as its not always obvious when re fitting and the ntc (if fitted) may well hit the element if you dont get it right. Also there is a metal clip between the element forks which needs to be fitted in the correct position as well. A bitof metal tube/pipe that fits over the heater terminals can be used to knock home the new retaining clips, I use the old hotpoint belt fitting tool (the useless one) which fits perfect. These heaters always seem to be held in by a wing and a prayer but never had one come loose or even leak yet.
