Hello,
Our freezer has started to make a louder than usual rattling/buzzing noise as if it is struggling to work. Can freezers fail gradually? Could this eb a warning sign?
That said, I have had a look inside and there seems to be some ice on the back of the freezer. I cannot understand where it has come from because it is supposed to be frost free. If the freezer is full, could this stop the air circulating?
I am hoping to empty the contents of the freezer and switch this off to defrost it. I am hoping this might cure it. Could it simply be that it has iced up?
There is a white panel at the back with slots in. What is behind that? I think there may be ice behind that.

The evaporator is hidden behind that back wall,empty and switch off with door open for 36 hours,you could unplug take that back off and defrost with hair dryer but 36 hours off should clear it.
It could cure problems,if it happens again in a few weeks you may have to look deeper into finding the cause.Re: Whirlpool upright frost-free freezer "buzzing" AFG3680

Hello. I emptied the freezer and left it switched off with the door open for a couple of days. It is now back on and much, much quieter. Hopefully the noise was just the freezer labouring. It’s supposed to be a frost-free model, so I don’t know how it freezed up but to be fair, I suppose it was only iced at the back and a “frosty” freezer would have been a lot worse by now.
