I recently had a bill for £ 65 for Class 2 National Insurance for the period 10/4/11 to 10/10/11. The bills I normally get are for £31.20 and cover 3 months but don’t mention which class of contributions are being collected. It is possible I may have missed a payment earlier in the year as I’ve been out of the UK a lot. Is the £31.20 type bill also Class 2 or is this £65 bill in addition to the normal quarterly bills? 😕

I got the same bill, I think they are only collecting NI twice a year now, even the tax man is trying to save money.

    Re: National Insurance

I pay mine by monthly Direct Debit, they did increase the amount slightly and also gave us a few months payment holiday without any collections in May/June/July and possibly a little before that as well. Something about bringing systems into line.

According to my statement, if you pay by 6 monthly DD they will collect £65 for each six month period.

    Jim.
