ParticipantHave a customer explaining that their AEG B1180 oven has the top cooling fan running all the time even when the fan oven is turned off.
Apparently she has left it like this for 18 months and just turns off the mains cooker switch when finished.
Am I right in thinking this is the little capsule at the top of the oven in the back that is the thermal cut out switch for the cooling fan?
Part number: 8996619267611 AEG & Electrolux Oven Cooling Fan Control.
As it is screwed into a nasty enclosure I do not want to have to take the oven apart twice.FlyingBrick

Back Colin
All I could get from the elderly lady was: Type 91AHP01PA and she thinks the AEG oven is around 8 years old.
Would not take this as a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct until I can drive around there and read all the numbers off the oven myself. If there is a temp sensor to turn on the cooling fan then surely the same sensor would turn it off when cool?
Any help from somebody who has seen this problem.FlyingBrick

Just checked the model number and can only find B1180-4-M – looking at the wiring diagram I think that this would be the only part that could cause the problem and listed as 8996619273569 and changes to the part no you had.

Hi Colin
Thanks for your help.
If you put in your part number the webpage shows the same item as part number:8996619267611 & 8996619273569 oven cooling fan cotrol.
Will be having a look at the little plastic capsule later today if I can get it out of the kitchen fitting. They have built a wooden surround plus microwave directly on top.
Tyre levers could be needed.FlyingBrick

Back from customer.
AEG B1180-1M oven PNC:944181727.Found old blue shaped torpedo fan control unit burnt on the outside sleeve.
Direct short across the two blue leads which I gather pass the current to the cooling fan.
Hence the fan never goes off when the oven cools down.
Pressume the white pair have a resistor giving around 24K ohms at room temp.
Have ordered one from UK Whitegoods to put in oven. Fingers crossed.FlyingBrick

Back from elderly lady with fan that has stayed on for nearly 2 years.
Replaced the old burnt out blue torpedo with the new ZN Limitor.
For once the switch on this unit had actually stuck on all the time and not the usual off position causing the oven to switch off from overheating.Pretty crude device which has a 24K ohm heating element across the white leads that bends the bimetallic strip to make contact with the blue wires when power is applied to the oven.
The device does not actually make direct contact with the oven casing temp but seems too rely on the heating device inside to slowly cool down as a timer and then the fan stops. Thanks Colin for replying so quickly
