Hi
There is a thread on this very subject with a post by Ken on the advantages and costs here which should answer most if not all your questions.

It’s in the TA forum, but there’s no reason not to post it here I don’t suppose…

Since I’m an innocent bystander I can ask and say lots of things that I probably ought not to. 😉
Anyway, moving on, sort of…
What about the fact that the Amica work came with a proviso that you were DASA, WTA or RETRA… Amica’s rules, not any of the associations mentioned or UKW or ISE or anyone else?
Or, plopping your name and whatnot on the WTA site?
Or, highlighting WTA members for anything else that comes about?
Or, the fact that your service will be measured in a fair way using customer feedback on a scoring system recognised by some institute of consumer service? (i.e. not a made up system)
Or, even all the stuff Lawrence said.
Sorry squadman, couldn’t resist throwing in some of the stuff the TA guys couldn’t or wouldn’t say because they’re too polite or whatever. I’m not that polite, especially this late in the day. 😉
But what I can never figure out is really, really simple…
Why is it that people ask, “what did I pay this money for?” when it’s the wrong question to ask.
The correct question to ask is, “what do you do with the money and what can we do collectively?”.
The answer to that question is much more interesting than “why didn’t I get a glossy brochure that cost loads to print and made me feel better but just eats up cash for no discernible benefit to anyone?”.
And, let’s face it, it’s £70. Hardly a king’s ransom.
But I’d urge you to talk to the TA people at the upcoming meeting about that and not on here. It’s a better medium for such discussions IMO.
Que, lively debate…
K.
