This one is doing my head in as well as my credibility 😳

I was called out to the above machine about two weeks ago, the fault was that the on the wash cycle the drum would only rotate about half a turn in either direction. I sent away for a module from EMW and it solved the problem. The machine has run for about a week without a problem, then it started to abort the was and display F04 fault (motor triac) I tried nipping up the connections on the board but still the fault persisted. So I sent the module back to EMW to test it. EMW could find no fault on the board but sent me an other just in case. I fitted the second board and all seemed ok until the next day when I got a call to say that now the machine was displaying F10 fault (pressure switch not sensing) so I called out and fitted a new pressure switch, tested the machine and all was ok.
I have just had a phone call to say that the machine is displaying the F10 fault code again. :hmm:

    Any ideas anyone……..please :haier:

    Re: Hotpoint WD420

im guessing its not got any kind of low insulation problem.
I would say board is faulty my golden rule is if same fault not the board if diffrent fault after you replaced board very likely to be the board.
i,ve heared ntc,s and heaters can cause very odd problems on these machines as well
does the motor sound and test ok?
    worn intermitten brake in loom?
pressure chamber to old type filter if it as blocked?
Thats my guess i think i would go with module again tho

I’d be inclined to cut my losses and send customer to Hotpoint. (That’ll teach ’em to buy such junk.)
Trouble is EMW will probably want to keep sending you back with replacement boards unless you speak to ’em nicely on the phone and explain the situation and that you’d like the original board back or some sort of deal.
This is where the EMW system falls down occasionally. They’ll probably have already repaired your original board and sent it off to someone else so, in their view, the board you have now belongs to them if they refund you.
Trouble is all their boards come with a sticker saying something like, “rare board, please return exchange within 5 days” which doesn’t leave time for proper extended testing by customer. (I always advise customer to give the machine hell for a few days and only then send back the exchange.)
    Mike.
