Hi, I am trying to fix a Hotpoint Tumble Dryer TCL770. There is power from the plug and lead, but the machine is dead. The lead goes into the machine and connects to a small electrical box. I have tested this for a circuit, and failed to get one. Is this the “Mains conn supp” that is listed on here as a spare part?

It is the mains filter or ‘suppressor’, it stops radio and TV interference.

Have you tested from the mains plug right to the mains suppressor for continuity?

If that is OK then the suppressor could well be faulty.

Yes I have tested from the mains plug. I have also taken off the two wires off the suppresser (the wires leading from the plug) there is no continuity? if i replace this part will the machine come to life?

So, can you get continuity from the mains plug up to the suppressor on both the live and nuetral wires? If you can then changing the supressor would be the next logical step.

Good thinking Rob, perhaps the OP’s test methods are a little suspect. 😉
