zanussi ZJ1217 bearing prob

    i replaced bearings and seal in this , fitted new bearings and when i seated the drum home in the back half shell there was some lateral movement actually quite a bit about 10 mm , so i removed the drum and put some bearing loctite on the shaft and refitted all was well no movement refitted all the parts started up machine and its like i never changed them a noise coming from that area again anyone have any tips on fitting these cheers

    when you say lateral i assume you mean up vand down not forwards and back

    if you have that kind of movement something has worn
    its either the bearing housing or the drum shaft not much else it can be
    dont forget 2mm movement at the bearings will give you 10mm at the front

    no i meant the shaft is not an interfrence fit , it slides onto or into the bearings with ease , i put loctite on it to hold it in place , i removed the drum again today and took all apart and the outer bearing (nearest pulley) was abit notchy , i cant understand it i’m fitting bearings for a long time now and i was careful to drift them home using the outer race , i have installed a new bearing now again so ??
