ParticipantI have a Smeg DW167 dishwasher it is reporting error E3.
I have found one of the wires to one of the spade terminals on the heater element badly corroded and hanging by one of the threads. I removed the wires checked element for continuity which appears to check out ok. So I cut the wire back put on a new spade connector.
What appears to be a thermostat pokes through the bottom of the dishwasher into the inside of the machine very close to the heater element. This thermostat has four spade connectors I get permanent continuity across two of the terminals and switched continuity across the other two (Checked its switching with a boiling cup of water – clicks away lovely!) I cant find a circuit for the stat so I am not sure if its working correctly. I suspect it is!.
Well at this stage I was hoping it was the corroded wire on the element so I boxed it up and run it again but I am still getting error E3 and the inside is stone cold.
Can anyone give me any pointers?
If its any use here are the numbers of the stat:-
Z0120H0201
N085
NA58
KEMA
KEUR OVEMany thanks

KeymasterIt will be a DWI67 Steve. 😉
If the stat is okay and the element I’d need to have a look at the wiring diagram for the machine, which we can’t give you by the way for legal reasons. But beyond that I would have to advise that you get in someone that is familiar with Smeg product.
It is possible that the PCB/Timer is goosed though, fair warning. 🙁

K, Thanks for your reply
I would like to try to find the circuit for the Stat, I need to convince myself it is definitely ok before I move on to the PCB controller!
Any idea’s where I might get one?
Also do you know a rough budget price for a controller?
I bet they are shed loads of money!
Just to throw in another question is there anyone around who can repair faulty controllers?

KeymasterI’ll have a look in the morning for you at the wiring schematic.
Rough price for a PCB/Timer is £118.50 ex VAT from memory.
I don’t know if EMW or someone repairs the timers as we only fit new.

Repaired one recently. Mine was module but had to replace heater as it was burnt looking.

Hi Simon,
I haven’t looked at the controller end yet.
I assumed there was just one PCB. Are there modules plugged in to it then?
How did you determine your module was stuffed?

Sorry I meant the PCB/timer. It is one complete unit with display. I meter checked all components related to heating circuit and then by default PCB/timer was the only part left.

When you said you checked all components I guess that was the heater element and the stat?
Or have a missed something?
Where is the best place or where did you get your PCB?

KeymasterSteve,
The only other thing I can see that’s in circuit, as I thought it woould be, is the level switch. Other than that it’s most likely to be the timer. 😕

The thermostat you have checked sounds like it’s working OK, there is another one in the door though.
The pcb for this model (as long as it’s not the DWI67.1 version) is £165.67 inc VAT.
I would suggest an engineer though, it could be an expensive misdiagnosis 😉

Dave.Dave thats interesting!
Where in the door can I find it?

KeymasterYou need to strip it down to get to that Steve.

Steve, if you don’t know what a thermostat looks like or how to identify one then I would really suggest you call an engineer.

Dave.
I got no problem identifying what a thermostat may look like, I was just hoping someone would say roughly where it is on the door i.e. on the controller PCB or close by etc.
Thermostats come in a variety of shapes, sizes and disguises but no problem I will find it.
Thanks
