ParticipantAnother ISE 1607W question I’m afraid…
Had my machine a few weeks and generally very happy with it. Most of my washing I do as Colour/White 40 degrees and it completes in an hour and a half, the time countdown working as you’d expect.
I wash towels and bedding as Normal 60 degrees and when you start the cycle it says 2:20 on the display. I’m sure the first couple of washes I did on this cycle took about that time.
But I’ve noticed the last couple of Normal 60 washes, it starts off counting down from 2:20, then some time later I’ve come back and there’s been a time over 3 hours on the display! It then counts down from this and does seem to take that amount of time i.e. taking something like 3:30 to do a single wash!
Is there a reason why this might happen, is this normal or a fault? Shorter wash times are one of the selling points of the ISE so this seems wrong somehow…

Actually just noticed that the manual lists the normal 60 time as 3:15 which is the longest possible wash time – longer than the Heavy 95 which includes a pre wash and 2 extra rinses and presumably spends longer heating water!
I assumed this was a misprint when I first read the manual.
So if this is just how long this cycle takes, why does that particular cycle take so long, and why does the machine mislead me into thinking it will only take 2:20 when I start it going?

Hi,
The wash times are worked out dynamically based on the conditions so they can and will vary by load, it’s very rare that two loads will be the same.
Primarily it is calculated based on heating times, so when the water gets colder during winter the program time can lengthen. Volume of clothing as that affects the volume of water required.
Load sort time for spin and a few other things can affect it as well though.
The machine “estimates” the time based on the last few loads using that program to try to give you an idea of the time but, as it varies, it is only a “best guess”, it’s not going to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} accurate when you press start.
Think on it like satnav. When you program the journey it tells you an estimated journey time based on normal conditions but, if you get snarled up or even if there’s no traffic, the time changes according to the conditions. It’s the same principle here.
You can try a reset and that will reset the machine to the default and clear the memory but as it “learns” the conditions it will reevaluate the times.

Right thanks, well I’ll just have to remember not to set that particular cycle going too close to bedtime…
