It’s just completed a wash but won’t do the spin cycle. I managed to make it drain but it refuses to spin.

The missus says it has been making a few noises recently.

Can anyone offer any areas that I should be looking at first ? I’m an engineer so I’m quite happy to take my chances !!

    Many thanks in advance.

Did it actually wash, or did it just fill and drain?

Obvious things to check first after removing the mains plug are the motor carbon brushes.

Thanks iadom. I’m gonna have a go at replacing the brushes as we’ve had the washer for many years now and they must be due.

It washed and then stopped when trying to spin. I cleaned the filter out and it did another 3-4 revolutions and stopped again. I guess this is symptomatic of brushes ?

I’ve watched some carbon brush videos on Youtube but can’t find anything on Beko… are they like another make maybe ?… Hotpoint, Whirlpool ? Also I can’t locate a user/service manual to step me through it. It looks straight forward enough for some washers but is there anything I should be aware of or different with Beko ?

    many thanks guys

Fairly similar to a lot of machines, motor can be a little difficult to get off the drum mountings, apart from that pretty straightforward.

    Motor brushes

    BEKO brushes

Hi iadom… sorted !! Took the back off and came across the dreaded Torx bolts when I was expecting standard nut and bolts. Of course I didn’t have that size screwdriver, but by some miracle I was able to access and remove the brushes from each side without removing the motor. A bit of careful manouvring and a mirror did the trick.

The whole job took me about an hour in all, and it now spins like a dream. In fact I thought it would end up next door but one !!

Thanks for all your help mate … not bad for a red 😉

After last night I think we both need to keep ours heads down, :rolls:

Glad you managed to sort it. 8)

NB. I normally lie them on their back but you have to be careful of the hoses etc when doing this.
