Hi,I have a Hoover fridge freezer HF40 A001. For reasons best known to itself it will randomly switch itself off, okay no biggie,we just thump it on the facia panel or tap the fast freeze button or the thermostat,it switches on for a few minutes or a month. The only reason that I haven’t looked to see if it is just a loose connection or if it needs brain surgery is because I could never figure out how to access the PCB.I assume that the facia panel is removed but can’t see any screws or fixings.
Came accross this site (great site buy the way) thought I’d ask just in case you guys have a cunning plan to access the PCB. Please don’t tell me that I need a HF40 A001 FACIA REMOVAL TOOL (available at Woolworths and all good DIY stores
    Thank you in anticipation.

There’s a nice technical note on this for that machine. 😕

Basically the problem is liable to be one of the sensors on a quick skim through it and not the board or any of the connectors. To quote the bulletin…

In short, the most probable reasons of the trouble in subject may be due to a trouble related to the components of the defrosting system of the appliance (Freezer’s probe, Thermal Fuse and Defrosting Heater).

IMPORTANT: in case of paused appliance, to unplug and then plug in it again
may prove to be not effective, since the software of these electronic control
boards does not have any memory. Every time the appliance is unplugged, as
the current comes back available the board initializes the internal clock by
performing a freezer’s defrosting. So the compressor will not start, until
    defrosting is ended.

So it probably isn’t as simple a task as you may think.

Okay, reading between the lines then “just keep thumping it until it starts”, I can do that.
Pity really it’s a nice looking fridge/freezer, that’s not to say that all fridge/freezers aren’t nice looking, but this one is just that bit nicer looking than most in a fridge/freezerey kind of way……
Thanks, for the reply I’m sure many people reading it will feel fully enlightened, especially in Albania…
