ParticipantWent to an AEG Novamat 64s Top Loader today, never seen one before, most amusing gadget. Turned out that the capacitor had blown so simply stuck in a modern plastic 16mf replacement and away it went!!!
Perfect little machine, ideal for the little 83 year old lady owner who bought it way back in 1981. Replacement parts must be well obsolete for it by now I guess but most unlikely it will need any for many years (well, should see the old lady out anyway 😀 )
Has anyone come across one of these before? The lady tells me they are (or were) popular in the sculleries and back kitchenettes ‘Up North’. But I wouldn’t know about that as when I left Yorkshire to come ‘down’t South’ back in 1961 ‘me mam’ used a dolly paddle in’t copper by the stove, tha knows 😉
Eeee! them days were grand 😆
You young bucks don’t know ya born these days (or so this little old lady reckons at least) 😀

KeymasterI had an old dear call me about 18 months ago that had a WD262 (which should strike fear into many hearts) that needed a door seal!
I’ll let Alex explain. 😉

AHHHHHH!!!! At least she didn’t want the temperature sensor.
Should have sent her to Candy, that thing after 3 years would have become a museum piece. The only machine I met that would tumble dry & spin at the same time, yes you could set it to any programme on the washing cycle whilst it was tumble drying, and it would actually do what you asked as well as dry.
I’m off to a darkened room now, Nurse Ratchet is calling.

Yes the 64 S and its taller sister the 84 s were/are great machines. The cabinet falls off to work on it, the filter is around the back, hidden from the customer. The baffles came out so you could get something out of the tub as the inner drum lid was removable, which also caused problems if the customer forgot to fit it back after loading up and all the washing would drop out down the sump hose and wedge the whole drum up. And the suspension was something else as it appears to mimik a citroen 2CV as you push it around the kitchen (oh yes, it was on wheels).
