ParticipantHi, I have a Samsung SR-L3626B which keeps switching itself off then eventually turns itself back on again? I mean the whole power cuts to it and back on as though someone has switched it off at the plug! I have tested the transformer in the back and there is still 16v coming out even after it has turned itself off so that must be ok.
I have replaced the thermo fuse in the freezer compartment and its still the same!
Both fridge and freezer are not getting down to temperature as it wont stay on long enough to freeze/cool.
It started this fault 2 months ago where it was only turning off once every few days, it has soon evolved to switching off and on probably 20 times a day! There is a temp sensor on the bottom of the evap could it be this?
Any help would be great as it’s driving me mad and I can’t afford to replace it right before xmas!
Thanks Carl.

No I have not checked the defrost heater could this cause the appliance to switch itself off? How should it be tested? resistance or continuity?
Many thanks Carl.

Ok I have checked the defrost heater for continuity and there is none so this must be my problem.
Thanks for your help.

I changed the defrost heater but the fridge/freezer stil switches itself off and on all day! Anyone got any ideas what else I can try? Would the evaporator temp sensor cause this fault? Thanks Carl.

Hi
In what way does it switch on and off all day ?
It should stop and start all day once it reaches temperature. Have you checked the plug socket ? is there anything in front of the socket ?

All sorted now, It was a build up of metallic whiskers around the power switch so the unit thought it was being turned off and on as the switch was shorted! Took a long time to find!!

Could you please tell me how you ‘clean the whiskers’ – I have the same problem with my Samsung SR-L3626B – it keeps switching itself off – I was assuming I needed a new fridge/freezer, but perhaps I can remedy it myself? Thnks
