There’s a bunch of tests to determine the rating that are a standard across the EU but for what particular appliance? Any used/reconditioned appliance will not perform as new and it is unreasonable to expect it to do so or to expect that onerous testing is carried out on each appliance. Even the EU stuff only requires a sample tested to determine the rating.

A lot of them can be found on the Transform website IIRC though.

It is unreasonable in the extreme to expect you to have the facilities to carry out that testing though.

I was not aware that reconditioned appliances had to have them and if your local TS is telling you that ask if they are also enforcing the same on all second hand car dealers as well as everyone else as well. I would assume that the same legislation or EU Directive would cover that as well.

But, if you do decide to challenge them and, you should, ask for the specific piece of legislation or EU Directive that they are quoting so we can check it out.

You might guess from my tone that I think they’re being muppets. (Again)

The benefit of a trade association, you kick a$$ for many and have a lot of collective knowledge to draw on. 😉

Just a thought, i wonder if they mean electrical test?

I have just spoken with Tradings Standards and there is no such requirement on retailing secondhand appliances.

We’ve been told in the past to put the energy ratings on but never done it. Just said i will when the charity shops / ebay etc do as well.
