ParticipantThis Washer Dryer is causing me a problem 😥
Complaint was drier timer not counting down.
Problem sorted by resetting the toc on the heater box. Also checked no blockage in ducting and water forming cold spot ok.
Ran the machine on drying only, checked the front stat on the heater box was controlling temperature ok. Job done, happy. 😀But next day customer phoned to say machine not working at all. 😯
Went back to job and found red mains ‘on’ light was on and also the green ‘door not locked’ light on.
Checked door was closed properly, door catch ok.In desperation ordered new door lock and fitted it this morning, still the same, door won’t lock, door not locked light still on.
And then I found that if I set a drying time on the machine, the door would lock, and all programmes would work. Not much good if you DON’T want to dry the clothes.
Has anyone come across this problem before?
The heater box has 3 toc’s on it. The rearmost is the resettable overheat stat, the frontmost appears to be the cycling temperature stat, but what does the centre toc do? it has been open circuit all the time I have tested the machine.
Edit…. Have just been on Bosch website and centre toc is 75c so guess it must control the low heat drying function.
Just for interest the frontmost toc is 120c and the rearmost resettable over heat toc is 175c
Any help would be very much appreciated

If the 75 stat is open circuit, that sounds suspicious. If it’s a Klixon type stat and not a thermistor it would be very unlikely for it to be a “normally open” type. If it’s not expensive, I’d order one anyway. If it’s very expensive, pull out the old one and test it with a hot air gun. If it doesn’t close when it gets hot (or change resitance to indicate it’s a thermistor), crush it gently in your pliers to find out what’s going on in there.
How that could affect the operation of the washer though is beyond me.

And me too, have ordered one anyway in desperation.
Best wishes

Have just had a shufty at the exploded diags on Bosch site and I see it uses a conventional timer. I therefore think the drying business may have been a red herring. Perhaps it was just an intermittent neutral (most likely) supply to door lock which happened to work OK just for that time when you tested it on drying. If it still won’t start a wash when you get back, I’d be looking to find out if at that timer position there is both a live and a neutral continuity from mains plug to lock and if not, find out where it’s getting lost.
