ParticipantMorning all, outer section of element has some heat, when switching to grill, centre section glows read, but not outer section – is this likely to be element fault or thermostat?

The only way to know the answer is for the grill element to be checked with a meter (insulation tester) first. If you are getting some heat from the outer element then chances are the grill/top oven regulator is at fault. But testing that element first is the only way of knowing the answer to that.
Competence with electrics is vital and caution advised. :zap:

Thanks Martin – i’d bought a new element anyway just in case, I’ll swap them and see if that does the trick, if not it’s the more expensive option!!

hi everyone
the fault is the top oven base element has failed, not the top oven thermostat, or the grill or top element.its the base element, its located under the base of the top oven / grill compartment, you have to remove the right hand side panel to gain access.MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF

hi barry
yes the element is held place with 2 screws when you remove the side panel (r/h) you will see 2 seperate wires going to the element , its located under the top oven base and the mail oven top panel, you may have to pull back the insulation. again make sure the power is off
