ParticipantHi. I have a Hoover washing machine nextra mega load 7.5kg model HNF6167. There seems to be an intermittent fault around 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time where the programmed cycle either sticks on an element of the wash or misses out an element of the wash e.g. Does everything apart from the spin at the end. I have had it apart and pipes are clean and pump is free of any debris. Any ideas? Thanks Dom

Hi Dom,
As a general rule, intermittent faults on a washing machine do not exist. The reason being that, if a part goes faulty then, it’s faulty. They generally don’t just not work for a short time then decide to be fine again.
It can happen, it’s just very, very, very rare.
More likely is that it’s an environmental or use issue.
By that I mean detergent perhaps over foaming causing the machine to detect an overfill and abort the program. Think it’s not drained and abort.
A favourite is a UK 5p piece stuck in the outlet hose acting as a flap valve causing erroneous no drain errors.
Stuff like that, they cause intermittent faults. 😉

Hi
Thanks for the response. I did have it apart and found a £1 coin a £2 coin and a necklace along with a residue reminiscent of clogged arteries but this was due to a water retention issue which got resolved. All that loose change has now been removed but I didn’t try and flush out the outlet hose presuming the pump mech would catch all?
On another forum I found this – any currency it it?

Take the top off.
Check the selector switch on the front, spray it with some switch cleaner (if you have some), allow it to dry then try the machine again.
Â
The usual cause of this problem is the selector switch, however, the ,main control board can also cause the problem.
Â
Check the switch, see what you find and let me know.
