The element in my main oven of my Diplomat ADP4520 (built-in double oven) has “gone”. I can’t find any evidence on the element of a meltdown, it just didn’t work one day.

My problem is removing the element to test it and almost certainly replace it.

From within the oven the element is held in place by two hexagonal headed self tapping screws. The head of these screws is very shallow, less than 2mm protrudes to get a spanner or socket on. The heads are 5mm across. If I attempt to use a 5mm socket there is no grip as the socket is slightly bevelled and cannot get a grip on this very shallow screw.

I am hoping that I can buy a tool to let me do this and if not available then remove the oven and tackle from the rear. My fear is that I won’t be able to remove the element from the rear either as I still won’t be able to get a grip on the screwhead in the oven.

I’m sorry if this sounds confusing but I have attached two photos of the same bolt/screw/hindrance which I hope will make my problem clear.

Thank you in advance for any help whatsoever.

    Hi

You need to remove the oven from the housing and take the back off to get at the nuts that hold the element in place. It cannot be done from inside oven.they are fixed bolts on the element.

Power off first before any panels are removed.

    Follow up:

I bought and fixed a new element. At the rear of the oven there are two small ordinary nuts holding the element in place. They are very easy to undo.

Be aware that a replacement element does not include two new nuts so you need to keep the originals.

Photo attached showing nuts and cables from the rear.
