    Hi all,
    Re-built this machine two months ago with bearings, spider etc and also replaced carbons. Local Vicar (female)
    Had a shout back to it yesterday fault code E30 which according to her hand book means motor fault. .Motor checked out o.k. but I plugged a new one along side anyway and it still comes up E 30.
    Checked wiring harness etc all appear to be intact.
    Any clues greatly appreciated.

    some of these programmers had a 6.3 amp fuse on the board

    There was also a small inline cartridge fuse fitted to some later models, mainly washer dryers though.
    Also check power board for blown tracks or burnt connections at the plugs down the side.

    The very reason I mentioned it in my post, sometimes due to wiring harness chafing on cabinet or if it has a GDA motor then brushes arcing on comm will often take out the power board.

    Did you use gen 1600474 carbons or pattern ones? Check then ends of the brushes for signs of arcing on the metal part of the brush holders.

    I used the laminated genuine white cased hotpoint ones.

    Are there any signs of arcing on the ends of those, if the comm is a bit suss then even gen ones will blow the PCB sometimes.

    Went back today and took board completely out and had a good look. No in-line fuses or on the board. Found a dry joint to some component or another; soldered it tight, re-assembled and she burst in to life! Although the on-board-self-diagnoses was referring to motor it turns out it had nothing to do with it. Could have referred to any component.

    E30 actually means there is no feedback from the tacho, so whatever it was you soldered it must have been stopping the motor from running.

    Result. 8)

    What a font of information this site is. Probably would have written the machine off otherwise.
