ParticipantHi again!
My Daewoo DWD-G1241S keeps switching off, about 2 minutes after start-up. It recently had a new heater, fitted under warranty, but was never put through a wash cycle since. It has been almost a year since i used this machine…have i ‘forgotton’ to do something?
Desperate now as this is the only other machine i own…two non-functioing washers 😥

Me again…I have noticed that the machine shuts off at the point where it wants to start heating…I do a cold wash and all is ok…do you think the repair guy has maybe not connected the new element correctly?
When the machine broke-down, it just got ‘stuck’ on the wash cycle, washing for forever in cold water. Selecting ‘cold’ instead of a temperature meant the cycle went through perfectly OK. Anyway, the engineer diagnosed a faulty element and I then went and bought a new machihe as i was desperate without one (i wash a stack of uniforms for work for myself & partner). This Daewoo stood in the garage for about 5 months, until i got it fixed, about 3 months back. Like i say, never been used since the new element went in. Cheers.

It certainly sounds like a heater related fault. That’s not to say that it’s the actual heater that’s faulty mind, could be other things.

Hi K. Cheers. Do you think it is something to do with the way the new heater was reconnected? The first engineer (who is a rather unhelpful, unpleasant man; he and I met once before a the company he works for does work for various manufacturers and insurance companies and was sent out by D&G to fix my Bosch dryer, years ago) left the machine in bits. He didnt even take the time to put it back in situ. Thus, the 2nd engineer had to make sense of what was left. I’m wondering if something has been put back wrong. Thanks again.

Without seeing the machine it’s impossible to say TBH.

No probs, cheers. Its just gone through a rinse and spin OK. I had forgotten just how noisey it is. Horrible machine. I only bought it as a stop-gap originally.

Hi again…touchwood, machine seems to be ok now. Trying it on all different cycles produced various results, as if it was moving in the right direction. Anyway, I had to call at the local washing machine shop to buy some vacuum bags and belts, and as this was where i bought the machine, i told him what was wrong. He had a Bosch machine in bits in the shop and he told me to take the lid of my Daweooo, and using the Bosch to show me, he told me to take the pressure valve hose off an blow hard down the tube as he says the tubes sometimes get gunked up. He said if the pressure valve isn’t working properly, then it won’t be sending the right signals to the circuit board.
I had my doubts. But I came home and did this. All I can say is the machine is now sailing through the cycles as it should be. Amen to that. I can start denting this backlog of laundry…
