KeymasterI have had a Whirlpool fridge/freezer that I have been really happy with – so thought “why not a Whirlpool oven?” but as I look around the net I am getting the feeling that this might not be such a good idea after all.
Any views ❓

This is a subject that I really must get to grips with and write up.
To let you understand I love to cook, it’s a hobby that I enjoy aside from the site and I find it to be very theraputic, yeah I know, but each to their own as they say. 😕
When it comes to ovens it depends very much on what you want to achieve from it and then consider the use of it. Do you want to cook with it primarily or reheat with it?
Even when it comes to fan ovens there’s true fan ovens, forced air ovens and then there’s fan assisted ovens which whilst they sound the same have subtle differences in performance in my experience.
The most solid advice I can offer is go for the best you can afford and try to aim for a multi-function oven which should offer several cooking options as opposed to only one or two with a standard oven despite the amount of symbols on the dial. Trust me, if you want to cook to any degree you’ll want the option to use forced air or standard convection at the mere flick of a switch.
Also look for a cooling fan fitted (most multi-function ovens will have this) and triple or quadruple door glazing as that will make the machine more “kid friendly “as well.
I promise, I will write up the oven article soon.

Hi,
You always get what you pay for.
Cheap white ovens ….discolour on the side struts when grilling with door open!
Look for grill with door closed.Electronic control….do you need child lock? Its easy to push buttons when watching the display……De Dietrich has child lock for one.
Stainless steel……enquire about cleaning the surface.
Service back up(were it to fail).
There is so much choice….but “how it looks often wins the day”. Look for more than a 1 year guarantee……think some cards offer a 2nd year if bought with the card.
To finish…we have a whirlpool oven and it works. Just.
