Posted this in wrong place earlier on, sodding ipad!

visited a dishwasher of similar nature. Machine stopped mid cycle and not draining. Removed the water from sump, quite a few plum stones, pop corn kernels but nothing to show the reason for to draining. I decided to open up the inside by removing the side panels, there are water on the base which indicates leak somewhere. Owing to the nature of design, it’s tricky to locate the leak, no means of getting access from front or back only sides. Pathetic if you ask me. I checked the obvious points such as wash motor, heater unit but they are bone dry. Which leaves the drain pump which I could not see. The worse thing is that it leaks onto the kitchen floor rather contained in the base. Very frustrating, I thought maybe inlet valve but it’s completely dry.

I could hazard a guess, a hairline crack on the plastic base from the sump? I can’t see that happening either.

I could be kicking myself over this!

It’s one of those awful polynox base.

A Bosch SGS43T72GB/06 has a metal removable base, remove that base and components can be accessed easily. Your description doesn’t apply to this model. 😕

Solid plastic based machines however are a quite different story. But I can say with some certainty that drain pumps on this type never, if ever, leak so you can rule that possibility out. Leaks are usually the main motor shaft seal, the pressure chamber overflowing, a pin hole in the heater box, water diverter in the heater box or rust holes in the stainless tank itself…take your pick. 😛

Martin, you made it sound like looking for needle in haystack. Client got second opinion, I did not charge her full price of call out. I rather someone with more expertise on Bosch to come out rather than from me. It’s the first solid plastic based machine I worked on. TBH, I never liked this type of machines due to poor access and lack of visibility. Mind you it was such a shame that the guarantee ran out a month ago. I have installed a few on those but not repaired one yet. I will face my demons….;-)
