ParticipantBeen offered this washing machine for £50 by a friend who is clearing a house. The machine dates from 2006 – 2008 and was used by an elderly lady.
Is it a reliable machine? It’s obsolete so can you get the most commonly replaced parts, and if you can are they priced to encourage repair or do you have to replace sealed units that makes repair uneconomic?
Is it worthwhile £50 gamble or less than this or not at all?
Thanks
Stuart

Its actually a Zanussi, not a bad machine, if you spin the drum round by hand and it is nice and quiet then it is a bargain for £50.00. Most fast moving spares such as motor brushes, belts, seals pumps etc generally still available at reasonable prices.
Go for it. 8)

Hi Stuart
It’s a reasonable quality machine compared to some of the stuff you see nowadays. To date it accurately we would need the pnc number which starts 91479…. Functional spares are readily avaiable, bearings should they fail can be replaced as it has a split tub. I would shell out £50 for it no problem.
HTH 🙂

PS. I have deleted your other post on this subject in another forum, please don’t double post the same question, it only leads to confusion. 😉

Hello Don and Iadom
Sorry about the misplaced posting.
Thanks for the advice. It really is helpful to have considered opinions. I have been groping around in the dark.
I will buy the machine subject to checking the date of manufacture and crucially check the ease with which the drum revolves. It is also helpful to know that the replacement of bearings is feasible should this be necessary.

I have found several numbers on the front door. I think the PNC number is 914791333/00. When was the machine made?
There are two other numbers in case this is helpful type P6848645; and a serial number.
I checked how easily the drum revolves – it does make some noise so i am going to look at some new washers. I have forgotten how a revolving drum should sound.

From that PNC it’s a 2006 model.
