ParticipantI’m hoping someone can help (or just suggest that it’s time to get a new machine).
We have a Tricity Bendix AW1000 W, which washes fine, but doesn’t spin afterwards.
It sounds like it’s starting to spin up, the drum rotates faster and faster (until approx the speed you’d expect it to spin at, before spinning back down again). It tries this again and again for a while, before giving up and leaving our clothes in a big, wet pile!
I’ve followed the guide on here, I’ve checked the machine is level and stable, emptied the part where bits get stuck at the bottom (pump filter?) all to no avail. There are no kinks in the pipes.
We’ve even had someone round from a local electrical shop, who said it was the bushes, ordered some for us, but when he came back out and started the work, said the old bushes were fine after all. He said it was probably a module fault, and meant we’d need a new machine.
Can anyone suggest anything else to try, or is it new machine time?
The machine is at least 6 years old – it came with the last house we bought.

A common fault with this model.. Sometimes the machine will spin but not reach full spin speed, is another fault for this machine… It will proberbly be the timer

They don’t seem to list Tricity Bendix, or is it known as some other manufacturer now?

ParticipantMost likely the problem is the capacitors on the motor controller board. Normally when the spin cycle starts, the controller gradually ramps up the power to the motor but if the capacitors have failed, the controller is continually reset so it stays at the initial slow speed or maybe ramps up a bit and then resets.
It’s possible the contacts on the timer can cause this problem as well so worth cleaning (gently with contact cleaner, not sandpaper or they will weld themslves closed!).January 27, 2023 at 10:50 pm #367579electrofix
Moderatormost likely correct but this post is now 10 years old so i think they may have a new machine now

ParticipantBlimey. The first question to have ask would`ve been “has this happened only once and was it therefore just this particular load and so what was the load?” Could have been something as simple as an out of balanced load. No one asked that question and he/she never said anything to the contrary and so now we will never know 10 years on.
