I am looking for a cooker hood to replace the one i have but want a smaller one. I have loked at the canopy type but that will maean me losing the cupboard space above the cooker which i am reluctant to do. So have been looking at a the conventional type but want one that is not as deep .i.e does not stick out and is not 500mm deep, 300mm deep would be ideal. Does anyone know if there are any of these on the market. Cheers WW.

I don’t know of one I must admit. Cooker hoods do come in various guises, the neatest of them will be the freestanding variety. You could install one of these under a bridging unit and have the vent hose extracting directly to the outside.

    HTH 🙂

    Hi

Neff D1613 is a typical example of a freestanding hood.

‘Freestanding’ cooker hoods in the wrong location can be no more effective that a fan stirring fog in the Bristol Channel. Potentially for an effective solution to cooking steam/odour extraction in “unusual” kitchen layouts, the size of the room, location of the cooking/hob appliance and ventilation need to be carefully assessed, altered and applied. 😯

Can you perhaps describe your kitchen or better still supply photos? 😀

If you don’t want to loose the cupboard the the conventional type is your only option. These do come in many guises so will be a case of looking around. I seem to think Neff made one that was telescopic at the front in that the front slide out.
