    Hi,

I had a RCD tripping in my main fuse box and eventually tracked it down to the opening of the door of my CDA CW494 Dishwasher, to the fully down position. For a few days the dishwasher still came on and off normally as well. However last night after discovering it was the dishwasher and after several RCD trips it has stopped working completely.
My initial guess is either some thing loose or maybe a wire from the main part of the dishwasher into the door somewhere in hinge area has broken.
Does anyone have any idea about this or any idea of how to get into this area of the dishwasher ? Do i need to take the whole dishwasher out or can i get the area while it is in situ

    Thanks
    Kev

Re: CDA CW494 Dishwasher – Shorting / Tripping the Fuse

In the absence of any other reply I’ll post my findings and hope that they are useful in the future to others.

With the dishwasher in situ I removed the kitchen door front and dishwasher metal front together by undoing the screws on the inside of the door which released the door front.
With the inside workings exposed it was possible to examine the wiring loom that came from inside the main body of the dishwasher through into the door. There were about 8 – 10 wires one of which was cut in half and had been causing the shorting. The plastic sheathing that had been put over the wires to prevent this seemed to have been completely chopped in half at some point, and left the wiring loom to rub between the door front and the main body.
I repaired the wire, replaced the front and created a new plastic protection for the wires using the side of a milk carton.
All works now and i didn’t end up shelling out any money, I hope this helps someone in the future.
