    Hi all

Looking for some technical advice. I have a Samsung side by side F/f RS21DCNS, the compressor has failed, but also the fan is not running.

The fan states 12 V DC at 2.82 watt .24 amps, there are three wires to this fan, i assume two winding’s.

I have tested between the three contacts and the resistive value is around 17 k, which going off the above should be around 50 ohms.

I have also tested for 12 v DC at the pins supplying the fan harness, im get no volts, though when the F/F is initially turned on the fan moves a little, not sure if its sensing a open circuit?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

P.s I am also aware that this model has a safety issue, this is being rectified, to my knowledge its to do with the defrost system though.

    Cheers all

    Re: Samsung RS21DCNS Fan issue?

How old is the appliance? and do you know if its had a service upgrade fitted this is a small fuse board thats been fitted to the main pcb. If not and the appliance is under 5 years old Samsung may repair it for free. When your checking the fan motor 1 of the connections is a return feed to the pcb so the diagnostics no that its running. Make sure the door switch is closed otherwise the fan motor won’t run it takes about 15 to 20 seconds after the door is closed. Check the diagnostics by pushing power cool and power freeze at the same time, after a few seconds there will be an alarm sound the display will flash and then go off at this point release the buttons and if any faults they will be shown in the display as 1 or more bars lit in the figure of 8 in either the freezer or fridge side make a note of it and let me know. Hope this helps BigCol78
