Participantthis machine is quite a distance so im after a bit advice.
customer says he selects cycle and it fills and merrily counts down the time til the end with no rotation at all.
now i would have expected an error code displayed. i have asked him to select spin only and apparently its the same.are their any spurious faults that can cause this he says its only 2 yrs old so if it has abrush motor it should be ok.
other threads for this model are dryer related so could low resistence on heater cause motor to stop without any error code.

I agree seems strange, I have had some odd faults on these due to low insulation on the motor and also dryer heater. Had one that was kept in an outhouse that refused to turn due to condensation on the motor carbons so removed carbons and cleaned with WD40. Could be something silly like belt?

i must admit its not on my tds discs. ill have to update i suppose.
even so i dont think this will be covered. i just get a bit down sometimes with electronics faults. eg two smeg dishwashers today.(need i say more). cos i dont have callout charge and do nofix no fee it would be nice to be more confident before i go.

I had an older Zanussi (no digital display) stop mysteriously mid cycle last week with no flashing lights and it turned out to have brushes down. It was in an outhouse and I suspect the dampness (it was wet here last week) contributed to some sort of partial continuity between worn brush end and commutator leading to the odd behaviour.
Two years old is not too soon to have brushes fail under ultra heavy use. I’d have interrogated customer about that on the phone before going.
In your situation I would explain to customer that because of the distance involved and unusual nature of fault I would have to charge a call out fee or they would have to wait until I was going that way for a second job which could be, for example, up to 2 weeks. You might lose one job but you would not risk losing an hour of your time and considerable fuel expenditure for no return.
Oh and another thought, ask them for an email address and send them information to enable them to obtain a last recorded error code 😉 if they’re not too technophobic.
