I have an Ignis AKL 829 (I think), and all of the markings for the timer, temperature and oven functionality have completely worn off.

I’m led to believe to fix this I’m going to need to replace the control panel. Is this the case?

If so, how easy is it for a novice DIYer to do, or is it a job for an expert?

Does anyone have a manual or photo of what the control panel looks like (so I could manually mark it back on)?

Any help would really be appreciated.

1st thing you need to do is to find the 12nc number, it is usually a silver label on one of the profiles at the side of the oven door and the number you want should start with 8541 and be 12 digits long. If this number is missing you will not be able to be sure that you will get the correct control panel.

If you oven is an AKL 829 the user manual and program guide are available on the whirlpool UK website here http://docs.whirlpool.eu/default.cfm
In the box marked “search by 12nc code” put in this number 854182915000 and it should bring up your oven.

The control panel should not be too hard to change but will cost over £70 to buy so is it worth it??

    Thanks John

The oven doesn’t seem to have a 12nc sticker anywhere on show.

I think for now I’m going to try to use an oven thermometer, and then manually re-mark the control panel.

Unfortunately the online manuals you provided, only seem to show an overall summary of what each knob does, rather than it’s individual settings, so it looks like it’ll take some time, and trial & error.

Failing all that I’ll look to replace the control panel!
