Hi, almost every time I use the dishwasher it gives me a warning error after about 6 minutes of the cycle. From the description in the manual the error means that the upper basket spray arm is jammed. The dishwasher is an AEG Favorit 86070Vi serial number 80570026.

When I open the door I can see water still coming from the holes in the spray arm and I can flick the spray arm and it turns freely. I have noticed that the upper basket moves forward by about half an inch so is not touching the water inlet at the back (although as I say there is water coming through the spray arm).

Sometimes just pulling the upper basket out and pushing it back in is all that’s needed and the cycle finishes ok. Other times the message repeats after another 4 or 5 minutes. If I ignore the long beeps and let the programme finish the dishes seems to be clean.

Very occasionally the programme completes with no error warning.

I’d really appreciate any help you can give as it’s a pretty frustrating problem.

    Many thanks

Further update. I have taken the spray arm off and discovered the end hole was partially blocked by something that looked like cotton threads. I used a small pin and removed it and found that there was more. Approximately half a teaspoon of stuff came out. Since then the dishwasher has operated properly with no alarms so I think it’s fixed. Not sure where the gunk came from or how it got into the spray arm. 😀
