Hi, hope somebody can help with this…tried to switch on the above mentioned dishwasher this evening and the display showed a symbol which could only be described as 3 wavy lines with a cross through it ( an X ) and next to this 1/2 is shown.

I cannot select any programs and checked through the manual and this doesn`t appear to be mentioned atall ( only the E error messages ).

    Any ideas?

    Thank you. 🙂

    Paul,
Whatever they put in the book is usually the simplest explanation of what may be wrong with the machine and never actually tells you what to do about it.

The display described is not one I recognise; I would suggest hanging fire till Monday – people will be back in the ofice then and may be able to figure this out for you..

Remember – washing up is a theraputic experience and keeps Marigold in business, so you are still contributing to the greater good of the UK.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.

LOL…I`ll let my wife know. 😆

Seriously thanks for the reply Penguin45, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction over the coming days.

btw just stumbled across this forum this evening when doing some searches on Google to try and find out what this problem could be…very useful board.

Bumping this message to see if anybody can help or suggest anything.

We tried the dishwasher again and it does appear to be working however it is making way too much noise for my liking and the water that is flowing through the machine whilst it is working seems cold.

This symbol of 3 wavy lines with a cross through it appears randomly ( no mention of this in the owners manual ).

Could it be a thermostat / heating element problem?

    I would appreciate any advice.

    Cheers.

If you’re getting wierd or illegible characters in the display it can only really be the control module itself normally.

It is possible it may be caused by a short elswhere in the appliance, though this is unlikely.

A replacement control unit is around the £140 mark inc VAT, but it may be worth asking an engineer to attend and confirm this is the fault.

    Dave.

Thanks for the details Dave but why would it be a control module fault?

Dishwasher does seem to be working however the noise is particularly loud and once the cycle has finished the dishes seem very cold ( no heat ) which leaves us to believe the symbol I described ( 3 swirly lines with a cross through it ) is something to do with the heating possibly?

If I`m talking nonsense, somebody please tell me.

Also can someone qualified give me an idea of the sort of price I`m looking at for a visit to take a look at this with a view to fixing it?

    I`m in the IG8 Woodford area ( Essex ).

    Appreciate people`s input here.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

have to agree with Dave here…..strange symbols on these boards are because they use the basic board across the range and its programmable. So a fault of strange symbols is usually the board going “bonk”

When your pots are dry…they should also be warm..the last 15mins of cycle is the drying bit..heated to 65 degrees and then left to drip dry. So if you have damp cold pots then perhaps no heat is relevant… the board should react with a no heat fault code…more evidence of the board not working correctly.

You really don’t have a DIY repair here, sorry. You also have to weigh up wether to repair or replace, you might have to spend to get an engineer to advise you further.
If you want to look in our directories and find a repairer using your post code please do…..

This has popped up several times, the three wavey lines with the cross means drying function deselected as an option. You’ll need to check your user book for resetting it.
