The chances are that it is either the heater or the control PCB that is faulty, 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time its one of these two items.
An electrical test of the heating element after removing the mains plug is the first step, if that is OK then its odds on the PCB. Heater is around £52 to £55. PCB is over £73. There are some of these machines made in China, if the rating plate shows the model as an SDW80.C then its Chinese and has a different PCB to the Italian made one.
Full model number AND serial number required to identify correct PCB.Try the Find an Engineer under the Search facility on the Home Page for a decent engineer in your area. 😉

ok just had a look the board is fine no scorch marks testing of the heating element showed a readin of 0.03 ohms no matter what way i put the prongs on
does this confirm the heating element is at faultMarch 4, 2012 at 12:24 pm #369588iadom

Looking at the board will not confirm anything. 😉
However your heater is goosed, heater resistance should be approx 26.50?
