    hi guys,

i purchased a second hand fridge freezer , but upon inspection i have noticed some wires at the back are broken. possible a rabbit i believe.

i plugged fridge in and it seems to cool fairly quickly, so i unplugged straight away and thought id come here.

here are some pics, the wire that is frayed is the one on the bottom left of picture leading to the white cylinder and then to the left side of the black box (compressor i presume)

can i just repair them and connect them back up, or could there be a bigger problem etc. im confident with electrics and all diy but i know nothing about fridge/freezers

    thanks for your help

    Hi

The wiring from the “white cylinder” Can be disconnected and removed completely without causing you any problems.

It’s a start capacitor, I do not refit when I fit a new compressor. And that’s a few hundred.
