    Hello – new recruit here.

My Creda T601CW tumble dryer has just stopped working.
The drum does not go round – but the machine does go through the timed cycle. The clothes just sit there.

I took the top off and tried to push the drum but that didn’t start it. The belt looks OK.

The only noise I can hear is what sounds like a timer ticking away – this stops when the cycle finishes.

    Can anyone help me ?

    Thanks.

It could be a number of things, if you can hear the motor humming and it starts to turn if you push the drum it could be the motor capacitor.

If there is no noise from the motor then either of the timers may have failed, there is a reversing timer hidden in the base of the machine as well as the one you use to set the drying times which does give this fault. It could even be a faulty motor but that is not common.

Bear in mind that if it has been left in a drying cycle without the motor running for more than a few minutes then the heater safety cut out ( stat ) will almost certainly have gone as well.

Circuit and component testing with the mains plug removed using a megger or suitable multimeter is the only way forward.

Hi need a wee bit more info but sounds like a door lock problem the door interlock, I’m pretty sure this model had the plastic ” pointer ” in the top centre of the door this pressed in the door switch when the door closed. Sometimes these fell out so have a look to see if the pointers there, you’ll see the hole in the cabinet where it should poke through.

Hi. I don’t think there’s any problem with the door lock etc.
When I open the door the ‘ticking’ noise stops.
When I close the door and press the start button, then the ticking starts again.
When it’s ticking, if I turn the timer to zero then the ticking also stops.

I am trying to find out if it is worth trying to fix this or should I just replace it with a new one. If it’s fairly simple to fix then I would obviously prefer that!

I cannot hear anything from the motor (I took the side panel off) the ticking noise is coming from the timer next to the motor.
