    I have this Hotpoint FF200M fridge freezer with a digital display panel in the fridge door.

    I want to change both the fridge and freezer doors to open with hinges on the left rather than right. The instruction booklet says call in a Hotpoint engineer, and when we contacted them about 4 years ago they wanted £65+ to fix it. That seemed a bit much at the time – its not the cheapest in their range after all, so we left it, but now a kitchen rethink makes it necessary.

    Can anyone advise how I can do it myself? I’m usually OK with basic DIY stuff.

    Hi

    Hotpoint may need to do the door change because of the wiring to the control panel being set into the door.

    Sadly the Hotpoint labour charge is now nearer the £110 + figure.

    Any chance a normal fridge repairer could do it, or will it have to be the Hotpoint guys??

    My guess would be yes, however as the wiring for the control panel probably goes through the top hinge I do not know if it’s just a case of rerouting it or if a different one is required.
