in need of some help and advice please,
i have a hotpoint ultimer condenser,TDC 60
it works fine for around ten minutes, then it stops,the dry light comes on but its not drying, it just makes a clicking sound.
it will start up again after a while and repeat the stop start process, whist other times it will not restart at all and it needs to be switched off over night so i can attempt to use it again.
all filters have been cleaned inside and out of my machine and water is emptied after each use as is the fluff.
Can anyone suggest what may be causing this problem,

You need an engineer for this one…
The fault could lie with stats, heater, timer, or dryness module..

Unlikely to be heater or stats giving those symptoms. Timer is quite reliable on these, in fact I have never changed one.
Your description does point towards the dryness module which I have changed many times.
Sadly that PCB now costs around £100. 🙁

much appreciated for the quick replies lads, i did try it again but it just did two dry spins and two reverse spins and stopped again.
looks like its time to get a couple of free quotes done, was hopeing it was something i could fix myself as monies a bit tight but hey ho such is life.

Free quotes, I will gladly give you one over the phone which would be an estimate only.
For most engineers to arrive at your door will have already cost them between £20 to £25 on average, that is before any time spent diagnosing the fault as well.
Do you work for nothing?
Take it from me, the vast majority of people offering free quotes are not the sort of people you want repairing your appliances. :rolls:

It is often possible to see signs of damage on the PCB.
If you remove the mains plug first and take off the left hand ( from back ) side panel you can see the PCB in a blue plastic housing.
Top off and three screws down the back and one underneath to get panel off.
sometimes the terminals burn away on the main connector block.

another thing i found out 2day is i tryed it again for around 10 minutes because i had a feeling that the themostats had gone now.
sowhen it stopped after 10 minutes i went 2 open the door but i did’nt push it hard enough toopen it & the dryer started again 😯 it ran for a few minutes then stopped again so i just tapped the door lightly & away it went again, i done this 5 times 😯 but it was’nt heating so the thermostats have gone. i had a look at the lock inside & it was a bit slack so i tightened it then noticed a plastic pin in the middle top of the door that goes in2 a little hole & behind is somesort of switch, is this a microswitch of somesort & could this be the cause? i put it back 2 gether & tryed it again it done the same thing twice over then dry light went out & it did’nt do it again until the dry light came back on.
while i had it all open thistime i checked all wires to see if any were loose but all fine.

The door switch can cause problems. The small peg at the top of the inner door has been lengthened on later production due to problems in this area.
THIS is the peg in question.
If that peg was the cause of the fault then it would cut out the machine totally, you would not hear a clicking noise.
